- Information Session November 22, 2007
2PURPOSE
- The purpose of this fund is to provide support to
Ryerson faculty engaged in creative activities in
the fine arts. - A secondary aim is to encourage faculty engaged
in such activity to explore potential alternate
sources of funding perhaps through the creation
of linkages with more traditionally fundable
areas.
3Eligibility Criteria
-
- Full-time tenured, tenure-track, or limited term
faculty, (normally limited to faculty hired at
the assistant professor level) - Must demonstrate that the creative activity is
relevant to applicants discipline
4Award and Deadline
- Up to 5,000
- Awards granted for a two-year period
- Deadline December 3, 2007 4 p.m.
- Submit on-line Application AND
- Signed off Application to ORS by deadline
- (PI, Chair and Dean)

7Proposal examples of supported activities,
not limited to.....
- Pilot or feasibility studies
- Travel to premiers/exhibitions of the faculty
members work - Production of films, videos, exhibits
8Proposal - development
- Avoid jargon highly technical descriptions use
plain language - The specific nature of the activity to be funded
and timelines - Position the project, its importance and
potential contributions to the field - How the application will explore alternative
funding sources and linkages - Identify an external agency. Describe how
appropriate relevant to your activity

- Name 2 external assessors provide contact
information - Methodology or theoretical approach to be used,
if relevant - Relate activity to your budget
- For work in progress the amount of work
remaining - If requesting teaching release time, provide
details

responsibilities, provision of academic
assistants - Where faculty require funding beyond what is
committed, suggest applying for SRC internal
funding programs (ORS or Faculty-based)
13BUDGET
- Provide an itemized budget, explaining the
relationship of the funds requested to the
research proposed, with a clear statement
indicating other funding sources to which
applicants will be applying, and/or have applied.
All budget items must conform to University
policy regarding pay and benefit rates, and
allowable expenses.

- Memberships to professional societies
- Child care expense
- Preparation of teaching materials or text
- Commercial or contract consultancies
- Research leading to a degree
- Remuneration to the faculty member or co-applicant
17Criteria Review Committee
- Artistic/creative merit or potential of the
project - Clear and definite outcome or product that is
peer reviewable - Complete and thoroughness of proposal
