What can I expect from Mrs. Fields?
  • You can expect me to believe in YOU!
  • You can expect me to have your best interests at
    heart!
  • You can expect me to work you hard!

  • I am available before or after school for extra
    help. (After Aug. 22)

  • NO MEANS NO every day of the year!!!!
  • You can expect me to be fair.
  • You can expect forgiveness if you make a mistake.
  • You can expect a loving, caring person who will
    stand up for you even if you need discipline.

The goal
  • is for you to be able to communicate in
    English in class and in the school setting.
  • You will improve in reading, writing, listening
    and speaking.

What are the rules?
  • RULE 1
  • Do what you KNOW you are SUPPOSED to do when you
    are SUPPOSED to do it.
  • RULE 2
  • Do what you are TOLD to do when you are TOLD to
    do it.

What happens if I break the rules?
  • You will have consequences!
  • My goal is that no ESOL students have discipline
    record, but the choice is yours.

What are the consequences?
  • 1. Mrs. Fields will first let you know you have
    broken the rule.
  • 2. You may have to fill out the form to explain
    your actions to me.
  • 3. Mrs. Fields loves to call parents and let them
    help her with your problems.
  • 4. You will be referred to the assistant
    principal if you do not respond to discipline.

How do I avoid consequences?
  • Come prepared for class.
  • Bring paper, pencils and other supplies.
  • Come into the room with your books and homework.
  • No going back to get what you have forgotten.
  • Dont interrupt anyones class after the bell
    rings.

May I leave your classroom?
  • NO!
  • Go to the bathroom or do personal business during
    breaks.
  • If you must go to the restroom, it will be 15
    minutes detention before or after school.

GIVE ME FIVE
When you hear the countdown . . . 1. Look at the
speaker. 2. Be quiet. 3. Be still. 4. Put things
down. 5. Listen.

EXPECTATIONS
  • Self-control is expected and encouraged. You are
    in HIGH SCHOOL.
  • I expect you to get along with your peers as
    well as adults. I expect you to do what is
    right and to set a good example.

Show respect for others and yourself. Talk with
permission. Listen to the ideas of others. Name
calling or making fun of others is not acceptable.

Encourage each other for good things. Notice
when others make good choices. Support good
efforts. Be respectful when others speak or make
presentations. Discourage others bad choices.
Use your influence!

  • Respect the property of others.
  • Do not write on desks, walls, bulletin boards,
    cabinets, bookshelves, etc.

  • You are welcome to use any supplies in the room
    except what is on my desk or in my personal
    space.
  • Return supplies in this room to the right place.

Ask before you borrow supplies from another
student.

When you arrive . . .
  • Greet Mrs. Fields!
  • Sharpen your pencils or ASK me for one if you
    dont have one.
  • Get your textbooks and workbooks from bookcase.
  • Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell
    rings.

During the last few minutes of class . . .
  • Copy all homework assignments in your agenda.
  • Put completed class assignments in the right
    slot.
  • Put desks in order if you moved it during class
  • Put all materials away
  • Books, workbooks, magazines
  • Markers, glue, scissors, colored pencils.
  • Throw all paper clippings in the trash.
  • Return to your seat until you are dismissed.
  • Speak to Mrs. Fields as you leave.

Procedures for heading your paper
  • Always put your information on your
  • assignments and papers.
  • Write your information in the upper right hand
    corner of your paper, please.
  • Please label each assignment that you do. Write
    the assignment prompt on the first lines of
    paper. Highlight it, or underline it in red.

Procedures for writing and sharpening pencils
  • Please use a pencil except when instructed to use
    a pen.
  • Use a mechanical pencil, if possible.
  • Check for pencil lead before class.
  • Sharpen pencils before class begins.
  • Use a portable pencil sharpener if your pencil
    breaks during class.
  • If you need a pencil, look on the supply shelf or
    ASK before the bell rings.

Procedures for completed work
  • Put your papers in the basket marked with your
    class period. I dont look for your work.
  • Place papers neatly in the box with the names and
    the holes of the papers all going the same
    direction.
  • Staple your pages together if it is more than one
    page.
  • If you are turning in a re-do paper, staple it to
    the original.

What if I am absent?
  • ASK for the work you have missed.
  • You may make up work before or after school.
  • You have a week to make up work.
  • Work that you do not make up is a ZERO.

How to be successful
  • Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings!
  • Have all materials and books at your desk when
    the bell rings!
  • Follow procedures!
  • Do your homework!
  • Put forth just an inch more effort than is
    required!
