What are the rooms like?
  • Standard rooms with or without a washbasin,
    sharing kitchen and bathroom facilities with 8 to
    20 others
  • Enhanced with a washbasin sharing facilities
    with no more than 7 others
  • Premium slightly larger rooms with a washbasin
    and queen-sized beds
  • Ensuite/Premium Ensuite sharing kitchen with no
    more than 7 others
  • Self Contained we have a small number of flats
    for couples or families with one small child

Safety and Support
  • Warden Service - The Wardenal Service is
    available to students during their stay in Halls
    of Residence. They are made up of staff or
    students who have experience of University life
    and their role is to point students in the right
    direction for help or assistance they may need.
    They also facilitate communal living by ensuring
    students abide by the Hall Regulations in a
    social, but study conducive environment, in a way
    which is designed to help students settle. They
    check students are not breaching any Health and
    Safety rules in their accommodation. The Wardenal
    Service operates a rota system providing out of
    hours cover. They are not trained to deal with
    health/emergency situations and will contact the
    appropriate services in these situations Student
    Services Centre available for advice and support

    new friends
  • 3 levels of security on majority of our rooms
  • 24-hour security patrols and CCTV at all sites

Whats included in the price?
  • Uni-link bus pass unlimited travel on the
    University bus service for the duration of your
    stay in Halls
  • Data connection high speed internet access at
    no extra cost
  • Utilities no bills to pay, although this
    excludes electricity in a small number blocks
  • Extra facilities (varies from site to site)
    laundrette, telephone in room, common rooms,
    fitness studios, bars

  • Applying for accommodation at the University of
    Southampton couldnt be easier

Will you get a room?
  • All students are guaranteed accommodation for
    their first year if
  • You normally live outside the city boundaries
  • You apply before the deadline 01st August 2009
  • You are unaccompanied, i.e. not bringing any
    dependants such as partner and/or children
  • Firm choice students (UG only)
  • We aim to give you a single room form the start
    of session. In exceptional years a small number
    of firm choice students may be offered a twin
    room at the start of term. These students will be
    found single accommodation within six weeks from
    the start of their contract.
  • Insurance choice students (UG only)
  • Guaranteed a minimum of a shared room if apply by
    the deadline, and will be found single
    accommodation in Halls within six weeks

Allocating rooms
  • An allocation will be made when any conditions to
    study have been met, e.g. A level results
  • Allocations will be made according to preferences
    where possible, but depend on availability on the
    day of allocation
  • Offers of accommodation made online check your
    online account regularly
