3What is the role of Arkansas River
EducationService Cooperative (ARESC) as it
relates toSupplemental Services?
ARESC was approved for the second year by the
Arkansas Department of Education to be a
Supplemental Service Provider for the State of
Arkansas for the 2007-2008 school year.
4- What will ARESC provide to schools?
ARESC will provide supplemental enrichment
services to students in school districts upon
request. These services will be after school and
or summer programs.
5- What school(s) are eligible for this service?
- Schools that are in year 2-4 of School
Improvement must offer Supplemental Services.
6- Which students are eligible for Supplemental
- Services?
Students who attend low-performing schools
will have priority for services.
7- What schools in 2006-2007 has Arkansas River
Education Service Cooperative P2P Program
provided Supplemental Services? - Watson Chapel School District
- Dollarway School District
- Pine Bluff School District
- Dermott School District
8- Which school districts in Arkansas will Arkansas
River Education Service Cooperative (P2P) Program
provide tutorial services? - Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative
Pathway to Proficiency (P2P) Supplemental
Services Program will be available to all school
districts in Arkansas during the 2007-2008 school
year.
9- How can parents sign-up for
ARESCSupplemental Services?
Parents must contact school districts and
request ARESC to be a provider of Supplemental
Services for their child.
10- What program(s) will ARESC use for
Literacyinstruction?
- ARESC will use Wright Group Fast Track
research-based literacy program to target student
weaknesses in grades 3 11.
- Data driven assessments will guide instruction in
comprehensive literacy focusing on phonics,
fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
11- What program(s) will ARESC use for
Mathematics instruction?
- ARESC will use Americas Choice Mathematics
Navigator program.
- Navigator is developed from mathematical concepts
and based on intensive research from the top five
high-performing countries.
12- Are there any materials required for the program?
- All materials to include books, manipulatives,
study aides, computer programs and or specific
websites will be provided by Arkansas River
Education Service Cooperative P2P Supplemental
Services Program.
13- How long are the lessons and what is the
time frame?
- Lessons will usually last 45 minutes for Literacy
and 45 minutes for Mathematics.
- The time will be between 300 and 600 Monday
through Thursday for 15 weeks.
14- How is transportation conducted?
- Transportation from the school district during
after-school tutoring is the responsibility of
the parent or guardian. - What is the student/teacher ratio?
- The student/teacher ratio will be no more than 10
students per teacher
15- How are the grade levels are scheduled?
- Monday End of Course Algebra
End of Course Geometry End of
Course Literacy - Tuesday Grades 3-4 in Literacy and Mathematics.
- Wednesday Grades 7-8 in Literacy and
Mathematics. - Thursday Grades 5-6 in Literacy and Mathematics.
16- What additional support is provided by
ARESC P2P Supplemental Services?
- Special groups to include children with
disabilities and students whose primary language
is not English. - Behavior modification strategies are in place to
assist the teacher. - Support of student learning through parental
involvement using Rise, Wise, Mise program.
17- Are teachers and tutors trained in this program?
All teachers and tutors will be mandated to
attend professional development that will address
best strategies to use with students who
performed below proficiency in literacy and or
mathematics.
