The movement that he was famous for was Symbolism
A lot of his early work was done in black and
white in charcoal and as he progressed as an
artist, he started using pastels
Redons artwork played on the anxieties in his
country after it had lost the Franco-Prussian War
His work was very recognizable because there were
many examples of mutating or hybrid forms that
are informed by transformisme.
