NASA LaRC FORESITE (NAW-4381)
  • The objectives of the Follow-on Radar, Enhanced
and Synthetic Vision Systems (SVS) Integrated
Technology Evaluation (FORESITE) program are to
    eliminate low visibility induced aircraft
accidents. FORESITE will continue research and
technological development to replicate the safety
and operational benefits of clear-day operations
for all weather and daylight conditions. SVS to
be utilized include a fusion of Millimeter Wave
Radar (MMWR) and Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR)
sensors to test terrain awareness and runway
    incursion detection.
  • NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).
  • The FORESITE project is part of NASAs goal to
    develop breakthrough concepts and technologies
for aircraft, airspace systems, safety, and
security. The WFF portion of this activity
includes project management and coordination, use
of the WFF airfield and airspace, and operational
    support.
  • Contract support is provided by NENS, CSC and
  • WICC.
  • The Wallops budget for the project is
    approximately 72K.
