- OBJECTIVES
- People are and feel more secure in their homes
and daily lives - More offenders are caught, punished and stop
offending - Fewer peoples lives are ruined by drugs
- Legal migrants are welcomed because illegal
immigration and abuse of the asylum laws are
under control - Communities and the voluntary sector are more
fully engaged in tackling social problems, and
there is more equality of opportunity and respect
for people of all races and religions

- Increased funding
- 85.5m to the NHS to counter bio-terrorism
- 56m to the Fire Service for decontamination
programmes - 132m to the Fire Service for search and rescue
equipment - 49m to the Metropolitan Police
- 12m to national police forces
- Tightened port, airport and border security
- Sped-up extradition processes
- Frozen assets of international terrorist
organisations - Increased joint-working and intelligence sharing
internationally - Increased the size of the Security Service to
analyse and act on information - Continued the exercise programme to deal with
terrorism scenarios
