DARS/u.select Team Mission and Vision Statement
  • Mission
  • Support the 37 Minnesota State Colleges and
    Universities by managing the development,
    integration and improvement of the degree audit
    software and the web based course transfer
    system, called u.select, in order to improve
    student access, opportunity, advising and
    achievement of academic goals.

  • Vision
  • The DARS/u.select unit will use a teamwork
    approach to excel in the work we do.
  • We will be responsive, visionary, proactive,
    flexible and diligent as we lead innovation for
    these projects and offer solution options through
    creative problem solving.

Mission Vision continued
  • We will use collaboration in coordinating with
    related projects, such as eStudent Services,
    MnTransfer, Career One Stop, MnOnline, ISEEK, and
    the Veterans Re-entry Education Project.
  • The DARS and u.select projects will support
    system and institutional policies, procedures and
    initiatives.

Preparing for the DARwin Award
  • Last years winners
  • Patrick Running, Alexandria TC
  • Opened requirements to update for new catalog,
    then went ahead and made changes to requirements
    instead of cloning, and lost previous info. Data
    had to retrieved from the CAS Server and restored
    into production DARS as it was before Patricks
    ambitious encoding. Did we mention that it wasnt
    just a few requirements?
  • Nominated by Sharlene Allen with much pressure
    from the DARS/u.select team Patrick received a
    kings crown made by Angie Alley and the
    traveling DARwin award book.
  • Jim Anderson Minnesota State University,
    Moorhead
  • Jim deleted Jamestown Colleges entire TA
    catalog. Again, data was retrieved from the CAS
    Server and restored into production DARS.
  • Nominated by Ginny Bair, who also accepted the
    award on Jims behalf since he was not at the
    conference Jim received a lovely tiara and the
    second traveling DARwin award book.

Year in Review Highlights
  • We all survived the Internal Audit
  • Randy Blankenship joined the team as ITS
    technical support with Fred Forseman consulting
  • Miami U DARS changes to redLantern
  • CAS has major makeover in January and becomes
    u.select in September
  • u.select regularly gets 1 to 1-1/2 million hits
    per month
  • Finally some user requested enhancements got
    done
  • 4 schools live with Interactive Audit
