- Learn to connect the Receivers
- Learn to launch the CPS Software
- Learn to create a CPS Database
- Become familiar with basic CPS features
3Detecting the Receivers
There are 2 ways to detect receivers
- Automatically Detect Receiver
- Plug in the CPS receiver to an available USB port
on your computer. - Open CPS from your desktop icon.
- CPS will automatically detect your receiver
settings. - Manually Detect Receiver
- Open CPS from your desktop icon.
- Click the Settings menu option.
- Click Delivery Options. The CPS Delivery Options
window appears. - Click the Receiver tab.
- Click the Detect CPS Receiver button. A Receiver
Setup window appears. It will alert you when a
receiver is detected or guide you through more
steps to find it. - Click OK.
4Creating Your CPS Database

- Open CPS from the desktop icon. The CPS Open or
Create New CPS Database window appears. - Choose Create a New CPS File.
- Click OK. The New CPS File dialog box opens.
- Navigate your computer to select where to save
the file in the Save in text box. - Create a New Folder by clicking on the New
Folder button to store your CPS database. - Double-click the New Folder so that its
displayed in the Save in box. - Type a name for the database file in the File
name text box. - Click Save.
5CPS Window Tour
Tabs There are three tabs that lead you through
the workflow of using CPS Prepare, Engage, and
Report. Buttons Navigate to a specific area
under each tab by clicking on the appropriate
button. Groups Groups are collections of
commands associated with a specific topic. They
are identified by the name on the bottom in a
darker shade of blue. Ribbons In the Engage tab
the groups slide open based on what is chosen.
This is referred to as a ribbon because it
changes based on what the user chooses. Â
6Creating Class Rosters
- Click the PreparegtClasses and Students tab.
- Select Class from the New drop-down button.
- The New Class Wizard appears.
- Choose K-12 as your Institution Type.
- Click Next to continue.
- Enter your Class Information
- Class Name This is the only required information
for a class. It will help you differentiate your
classes so choose a descriptive name. - Click Next to create your class or click Back to
review your information. - Click Done to close the New Class Wizard and
return to the PreparegtClasses and Students tab,
or create another class by clicking the box in
front of the I want to make another class option.
7Adding Students to A Class

- Click the PreparegtClasses and Students tab.
- Select Student from the New drop-down button.
- CPS displays the default student information. CPS
automatically saves the default student data row. - Quick Tip Quickly add personalized student
information to a student data row by typing in
the students first name, click the Tab key on
your keyboard, type in the students last name,
click Enter on your keyboard. Clicking Enter
saves the students information and automatically
moves you to the next student data row. CPS
automatically assigns the next student a pad ID
number in numeric order. You may change the
students pad ID number by clicking on the Pad ID
data field and entering in a new pad ID. Data
fields include the following fields - Â First name (required)Â Â Â Â Last name
(required) Pad ID (required) - Â
- 4. Click Save when you have added all the
students data. CPS will automatically display
the students information on the student side.
