Ottawa In a surprise move in Parliament today,
Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced that the
Canadian commitment to Afghanistan will be
extended for another two years. Coming on the
heels of the death of Canada's first female
combat casualty, the announcement met with
significant disapproval in the house of commons.

Montreal The Montreal Canadiens won their 24th
Stanley Cup in a heartbreaking fashion last night
as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in double
overtime before a sellout crowd at the Bell
Center. Alex Kovalev scored the game winner
while Saku Koivu scored once and added two
assists to take the games first star and seal his
claim on the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Canadiens
won their first cup since 1993. Other
