3CNAS Mission
- The mission of the College of Natural and Applied
Sciences (CNAS) at Missouri State University is
to produce educated persons who, upon graduation,
are prepared to make sound decisions relative to
science and society. Central to this effort is
the Colleges commitment to develop students
capacities for lifelong learning in an

- The College is committed to excellence in
teaching. It supports experiential learning
through internships, laboratory and field
experiences, undergraduate and graduate research,
cooperative education, and science education
programs. - These learning experiences improve the students'
qualitative and analytic abilities which are
necessary for critical thinking and informed
decision-making. The College endeavors to
instill in each student a foundation of knowledge
and the ethics needed to function responsibly in
society.

- My best guess for recurring salary savings for
CNAS in 2007-2008 is approx. 832,687. This
includes hiring two new engineering faculty from
the engineering dollars new money. - I have a detailed hiring plan that will use
approx. 760,000 for new hires, 20,000 for
position upgrades, and 50,000 for equity
adjustments.

- One time salary savings. CNAS earned
approximately 633,000 in one-time salary
savings. - 130,000 was used for start-up funds for faculty
- Approximately 200,000 was used to hire one year
replacements for positions not filled. - Approximately 200,000 was used for per course
needs. - 35,000 is saved for a variety of construction
needs. - 65,000 contributed toward purchase of XRDs
