Dance and Music

• Dance Studies Single or Combined Honours
• Full-time 3 years
• Part-time 4-7 years
• Features
• Strong links with the profession including own
  choreographers, and links with companies working
  in ballet and contemporary dance.
• In house performances and dance events starring
  leading companies and major dance personalities
• Fifth highest concentration of world-class
  activity of any department in the country in any
  subject, higher than can be found in most of the
  old as well as other new universities.
  International exchange programme
• RAE 2008 100 of RUs submitted work in Dance
  was recognised internationally or nationally for
  its originality, significance and rigour, with
  55 of that work regarded as being
  world-leading. This is also the best record in
  any RAE for dance.
• Career Prospects Besides performance and
  choreography-based study at the London
  Contemporary Dance School and LABAN, graduates
  find employment in production, therapy, teaching,
  administrative and archival posts.

• Career Prospects The programme equips students
  with a wide range of transferable skills
  experience of working as part of a group, complex
  problem solving, time management, information
  retrieval, research and presentation. Recent
  graduates have gone on to careers in
  administration, marketing, teaching and
  therapeutic work .

• It provides an in-depth knowledge of English, its
  varieties, and the theory and practice of English
  language teaching.
• The programme was rated as excellent for the
  quality of its teaching and for its practical
  approach to linguistics by the Higher Education
  Funding Council for England
• The work in the third year can contribute to the
  internationally recognised Cambridge Certificate
  in English Language Teaching to Adults

• Career Prospects Graduates are in demand for a
  variety of careers in media and communications,
  business, industry and the public sector. Recent
  graduates have also travelled abroad to teach
  English as a Foreign Language and undertaken
  postgraduate training in all areas of education
  and speech therapy. TESOL students also pursue
  careers in testing, materials design, ELT
  administration or teaching at primary or
  secondary level, either in the UK or overseas.
