WCHS Scheduling Basics
  • Each class at WCHS is rated with a predefined
    amount of Credit Hours
  • Most 1 period classes are worth 0.5 credit
    hours
  • Most 2 period classes are worth 1.0 credit
    hours the exception is P.E.

12
Additional Keys for Scheduling
  • There are eight periods of class time in each
semester. If you choose a one-credit course, it
will take up two periods of time.
  • A one-half credit course will take up one class
period. If you want a study hall each semester,
this will count for two periods in your total.
  • Please choose classes to make up sixteen periods
    of class time.

13
More Keys for Scheduling
  • Be sure to check prerequisites for classes.
  • If you do not have the prerequisite for an honors
course, we will move you to the regular.
  • In many of the classes you need at least a C to
move to the next level. Make sure you are
earning this grade if you are signing up for a
higher level course. Again, final grades will be
checked before you are scheduled for classes.
  • If you have received below a C in a course, you
may want to repeat the class to get a higher
grade. We will post the grade on your transcript
from the second time you took the course. (NOT
    the higher grade!)

Final Things to Remember
  • There are eight periods of class time in each
semester. If you choose a one-credit course, it
will take up two periods of time.
  • A one-half credit course will take up one class
period. If you want a study hall each semester,
this will count for two periods in your total.
  • Please choose classes to make up sixteen periods
    of class time.

55
Final Things to Remember contd.
  • After you have chosen sixteen periods of class
time (including study halls) you must choose four
alternative courses that you would like to take
in case your first choices are not available.
  • Please choose carefully because many times we
must choose from this list if your first choices
    are not available.
  • Please take these alternative choices seriously
because we often use them to finish your
    schedule.
  • DO NOT TURN IN YOUR SCHEDULE WITHOUT FILLING IN
    ALL FOUR ALTERNATIVE CHOICES!

56
Final Things to Remember contd.
  • Please do not be in a rush to turn in your
    schedules!
  • Take time to discuss your students schedule
including all year courses that can not be
    dropped. I.e. band/choir
  • Thoroughly discuss your math track if you sign
up for FST you can only drop in the 1st week of
the semester. This was a real problem this year.
    Know your students math capabilities.

57
Lets look at the College Guidebook together.
  • These are the highlights.
  • Please take time and read each and every page.
  • This publication will answer most if not all your
    college questions!

58
Lets fill out a Senior schedule!
  • Starting with required class
