• Took long time to find name for group
• - Matthew Matskiw named group
• Named group Zoloto
• Zoloto means gold in Ukrainian
• Company has been alive for twelve years
• Very successful
• Received many gold medals

History

• - Wanted to start own dance group
• - Started dance group because Keris started
  Ukrainian dance at young age
• - Enjoyed dancing
• - When got older assisted dance instructor
• - Attended dance seminars
• - Started group with adults (friends and other
  dancers)
• - Danced and taught at same time, then just
  taught
• - Grew to how it is today

• - Girls assortment of turns
• - Boys preseca (down kick) combinations
  including preseca
• - Dances learned in past
• - Go to competitions to perform dances

• Not region of Ukraine but a traditional welcoming
  dance preformed by all dance groups around the
  world and is a traditional opening for all
  performances. Shows the ancient bond between the
  Ukrainian people

• Overview western Ukraine, on south - eastern
  slopes,
• Part of Romania
• Dance lively, energetic, lots of character by
  high stepping and tight foot stamping.
• Coins often part of the costume

• Hutzul
• Overview east and west of Boikans. Hutzul also
  in Romanian territory
• Extends down east and south east
• Located in the very high mountains
• Dances taught commonly due to lively high
  energetic music and stepping
• Known for circular patterns extreme energy that
  involves lifts and spinning couples.
• Steps done uptight and down motion instead of
  wide side to side due to smaller area on the
  mountains.

• Overview - The present Zakarpats ka province
• Its irregular QUADRANGLE covers both foothills
  and the fertile plane
• Originally part of Kyivan State
• Dances - Known for modern paced beat
• Males lots of clapping and slapping of their
  bodies aspects of both Hungarian and
  Czechoslovakian cultural dances
• Girls long puffy skirts made to swish with every
  slight move of hips or upward movement of hips

• Overview Lies in north western Ukraine
• Between the region Podillia in west Polissia in
  north
• Dance traditions greatly influenced by long
  Polish rule
• Many polka and spinning couple dances
• Womans long swishy skirt and bottom portion of
  mens jackets flow with hoping and spinning steps
  in dance

• Marshy land characteristic of large moving steps

• Begins in Dnister River stretches down to South
  East city of Balta
• Dances Different from most dances in Western
  Ukraine
• Not secluded like other regions

• Dancers take large steps including intricate
  stamping combinations
• Modernly paced

• Known for its dark rich chernozem topsoil slow
  winding rivers
• Fields broad produce lots of grain
• Dances High energetic

• Sometimes longer dance

• Acrobatic solos of males contrast by the spins

Why I chose

• I chose this subject for a Heritage Project
  because
• - I take Ukrainian dancing
• - I wanted to know more about the Ukrainian
  heritage
• - I wanted to know how Zoloto started
• - I thought that studying it could help me be a
  better dancer
• - I wanted to better understand Ukrainian
  dancing
