Criteria
- Student capacity of buildings (design and
operational) - Keeping neighborhood intact
- Use major features as boundaries (main roads,
railroads, rivers, parks, etc.) - Reduce transportation costs
- Balance by socio-economic status
- Attempt to move as few students as possible to
achieve goals - Maintain an intact feeder system, (dont split
elementary areas for middle schools, dont split
middle school areas for high schools) - Implement a redistricting plan based on longevity
9Community SelectedRedistricting Criteria
- Balance schools by ethnicity, race,
socio-economic status, special programs, etc - Maintain middle school cohorts as much as
possible - Consider physical proximity and distance from
home to school - Consider building capacity(program capacity and
operational capacity) - Consider length of time in transit (including
length of time students waiting at bus stop,
riding on bus and waiting on bus at school)
