    the Dept. of Ags in the western US, Alberta CA,
    British Columbia, Minnesota, and Florida
    requesting info on their program
  • We got responses from MN, SD, ABCA, UT, ID, MT,
    WY, CO, KS, AZ, and OK

  • A letter has been sent out every year, except the
    last two years, to invite states to participate
    in the program.
  • NM maybe this year!

  • We now have signed MOUs from AK, AZ, MN, SD,
    ABCA, NV, WY, Wallowa Co. OR, KS, NE, WI, IN, IL,
    MI, Pend Oreille Co. WA, OH, IA, MO, KY. We have
    letters of support from MT, ND, OR, and ID

  • OR started a pilot program and is going forward
    from there. WA is just starting maybe county by
    county. We are currently work with Manitoba!
  • CA is a little reluctant because their standards
    are much stricter than NAWMA

  • Opportunity to move forage freely in restricted
    areas

Charges for Inspections
  • Charges vary among states to recover costs for
    inspections, marking materials, tags, flags,
    twine, administration, wire, etc.
  • Some states charge for inspections and some do
    not.
  • In some states it is optional for individual
    districts.

  • Some local districts charge for transit
    certificates
  • Almost all charge for tags and twine/wire.

Train the trainer program
  • NAWMA provides a train the trainer program. It
    trains people in your state to train others on
    field inspection, weed ID, forms etc.
  • When you complete this course you are qualified
    to train people in your state or province

  • If you have signed up on the sheet, you will
    receive a certification card and can get a CD.
    This CD will be a detailed training program for
    your use.
  • If you want a CD let me know. Print clearly on
    the sign-up sheet please!!

Get the word out!
  • Talk to producers one on one.
  • Put notices in local papers.
  • Make presentations at producer meetings, 4-H
    meetings, local organizations, civic clubs, local
    fairs, etc.
  • Have brochures available.
  • Take appointments for inspections.
