present yourself more confidently in residency
    interviews.
  • There are three things that are extremely hard
    steel,
  • a diamond, and to know ones self. Benjamin

11
Who Am I?
  • To know yourself is, of course, the task of a
lifetime, but it is also the essential first step
in the career development process. It involves
analyzing four elements of your personal
    characteristics - interests, values, personality,
and skills - to figure out what you want in your
medical career. The goal is to choose a specialty
that meets as many of your important personal
    characteristics as possible.

12
Ask Yourself
  • What do I enjoy doing?
  • What is important to me?
  • What energizes me?
  • What do I do well?
  • What am I good at?
  • What brought me to medicine in the first place?

13
How Do I Use the Information?
  • Attend workshops and seminars that UNT HSC offers
  • Practice self-assessment exams exercises
  • Explore your interests and make note of how they
change and/or remain the same over timelook for
    patterns!

personal preferences and how they relate to your
    choices
