Challenges
  • Lack of exposure to Islamic teachings values
    especially at school
  • More distractions TV, internet, games, etc.
  • They spend more time with their friends than with
    their parents
  • Earning them money takes priority over being
    physically with them
  • Lack of Muslim role models
  • Identity conflict
  • Touch-your-kid-and-go-to-jail laws
  • Siblings rivalry

Guidelines
  • 1. Be an example (like father, like son) (lying,
    smoking, cheating)
  • 2. Introduce them to Islamic teachings values
  • -Quran, Sunnah, Muslim history, etiquettes,
    prayers, charity, respect (read for them, show
    them videos) ...
  • 3. Familiarize them with Muslim heroes
  • 4. Be kind to them (Prophet Fatimah, Hassan
    Hussain, Umair Nughair, Anas, kissing)
  • 5. How do you treat your wife

  • 6. Consult with them and give some
    responsibilities
  • 7. Let them talk to those who are older than
    them
  • 8. Hook them up with good Muslim kids
  • 9. Go out as a family (pray/play together,
    circle of trust)
  • 10. Praise them in front of others when they do
    good
  • 11. Dont punish him/her in front of siblings
    or friends

  • 12. Channel their energy in something useful
    reading, sports,
  • 13. Teach them to express their feelings in an
    artistic manner (story-writing, poetry, speeches,
    etc.)
  • 14. Dont spoil them (stick carrot method)
  • 15. You are not friends (father-is-father
    kid-is-kid)
  • 16. Teach them to appreciate the little they have
    remind them of those who are less fortunate
  • 17. Teach them what is halal and what is haram

  • 20. Teach him/her to do unto people what s/he
    likes to be done unto him/her
