Examples of Introductions
Poor example A million dollars is a lot of
money. I wish I had a million dollars. I dont
even know anyone who has a million dollars.
Good example Did you know that a million
dollars is enough nickels to fill an entire
school bus? If I had a million dollars I would
put it in the bank to earn interest so I would
never have to work a day in my life. Did you
realize that the interest on a million dollars is
about one thousand dollars a week?

Examples of Introductions
Poor example Spiders have eight legs and no
wings. They can live in many places. Spiders
spin different kinds of webs.
Good example Time for dinner! If you were a
spider you would turn your food into a liquid and
drink it like milk through a straw. Spiders
usually eat only insects. They poison their prey
with a bite and slurp up their supper.

INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH
Topic Trip to the beach
Introductory paragraph 1 Question
Have you ever been to the beach? If you havent
you dont know what youre missing. My family
and I went to Pismo Beach during vacation and had
a wonderful time building sand castles, surfing
and swimming in the ocean, shopping on the
boardwalk and feeding the seagulls. The best
part for me was finding sea creatures in the tide
pools.

Crash! The ocean wave broke at my feet as I
readied my surfboard to enter the water. My
family and I were on vacation at Pismo Beach. We
had a wonderful time building sand castles,
surfing and swimming in the ocean, shopping on
the boardwalk and feeding the seagulls. The best
part for me was catching the awesome waves on my
surfboard while my little brother watched
jealously from the shore.
