30Conclusion
- To support the mission and vision of MRC and
support National Programmes on Health, science
and Technology - Seek increased baseline support from MRC if IKS
is to make and impact - seek a baseline funding of R2
million per year - - Requesting R2,5 million for
infrastructural development at - Delft ( Match up R4 million
from DST for equipment) - Increase the science staff complement in IKS
- To get science to benefit our communities
- To develop and manage partnerships and consortia
effectively (African Initiative on Traditional
Medicines, Indian Traditional Medicines, WHO Afro
scientific advisory committee) - To be a centre of excellence in Traditional
Medicines research - Capacitated GP (clinical trials), Traditional
healers (Training, knowledge transfer, IP,
Commercialization), Communities (poverty
reduction, business skills, community
enterprises), Scientists (State of the art
equipment and research) - Empowerment (CPPP), Business development, BEE,
spin out companies
