Kicked the bucket is an idiom that means died.

5Analogy
- A comparison based on resemblance or showing a
relationship.
Example An arm on a person is like a branch on
a tree because both are connected parts of the
larger whole.
Sometimes analogies are stated like this Branch
is to tree as arm is to person.

- Foot is to sock as hand is to glove.

in the wind.
Dog is being compared to litter in the wind
which helps the reader to understand its
movements.

- A figure of speech that compares two things
without using a word of comparison - such as like or as.
Example The cup of hot tea was the best
medicine for my cold.
Tea is being compared to medicine.
