What is Lorenzo Regional Care?
  • A fully integrated enterprise wide electronic
    patient record that will support the processes
    and services required for the delivery of care
    within the NHS
  • It is a single application design from which all
    healthcare services can be supported
  • It is Patient Centric

Sounds goodbut so what?
  • I will answer with a number of questions
  • How many times have you been faced with a patient
    and no notes?
  • How often have you been unable to find a key
    piece of information in a set of notes?
  • How comfortable are you making clinical
    judgements based on interpretation and
    assumption?
  • How often have you looked through paper records
    to support audit or research effort?
  • How often have you transcribed information onto
    paper from telephone calls and based critical
    decisions on it?
  • How often have you realised that not to describe
    care given implies care not given and..
  • If you cant measure the effectiveness of care
    delivered because its not recorded..what did you
    do yesterday?

    prepare
  • Understand your current processes
  • Define what you want the future to look like
  • Identify your current constraints including those
    caused by the paper record and patient location
  • Understand the number of hand-offs and the level
    of transcription effort involved
  • Base-line the time each step takes and consider
    how much that times adds value to the care you
    are delivering
  • Workout how LORENZO can help manage your
    constraints and reduce handoffs

    clinical decision to be made?
