Secure, Loss-less KVM System for IP
2 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution
FACT Ten years ago, most viruses were
distributed on floppy disks. Then came e-mail and
instant-messaging software. Now, they are
targeting browsers. Randall Palm, director of
IT at CompTIA
3 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution
FACT Browser-based security threats are on the
rise and may pose the next significant risk to
information technology operations, according to a
technology trade association.
4 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution
- Most IP KVM Products are Browser-based
- Here are just a few
- Avocent
- Raritan
- Rose
- Lantronix
- Minicom
- Digi
- Kaveman
5 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution
Global-Link requires no external software. Think
of Global-Link as a KVM hardware extension
system using IP to connect the cpu user-interface
ports to the user desktop.
6 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution

Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard)
7 Serious Security
- Three factors need to be in place simultaneously
to break the Global-Link security - The Triple DES key (encryption component)
- User Authentication (individual)
- Decoder device and IP Address (hardware)
8 Not Just Another KVM IP Solution
- Video Resolution 1280 x 1024 _at_ 60Hz
- No Keyboard and Mouse Latency
- No Mouse Performance Issues
(How do we do that?)
9 The Global-Link Difference
Global-Link utilizes unique differencing
algorithms which compare the current frame to
the previous one and sends only the changes.
This technology optimizes bandwidth requirements
and dramatically improves performance as opposed
to browser-based products. Latency related video
artifacts, such as mouse trails, are a thing of
the past.
10 The Global-Link Difference
Differencing requires no data compression Global-
Link is LOSS-LESS Unlike browser-based
devices, Global-Link does not lose any video
content associated with compression and
decompression processes.
11 Global-Link Protocols
Global-Link Video Protocol UDP, User Datagram
Protocol. Unlike TCP/IP, UDP/IP provides very
few error recovery services, offering instead a
direct way to send and receive datagrams over an
IP network. Global-Link Keyboard and Mouse
Protocol TCP/IP, Transmission Control Protocol
provides a reliable stream delivery and virtual
connection service to applications through the
use of sequenced acknowledgment with
retransmission of packets when necessary.
12 Logical Sync Conversion
- Global-Link converts sync to match the encoder
sync for analog video allowing universal source
and monitor/projector compatibility. - Supports
- RGBHV
- RGBS (composite)
- RGB (sync on green)
13 Local KVM (transmitter)
- Logical Global-Link supports a local video,
keyboard and mouse for cold room interaction with
the cpu. This is especially convenient for
system administration and installation to
coordinate with the remote locations. - Local DVI or RGB, DVI-I connector
- Local Keyboard and Mouse, all supported
- And universally translated
- PS2
- USB
- Sun
14The Global-Link Local KVM
KVM
Supports USB (HID), PS2, Sun
15 Keyboard Mouse
- Logical Global-Link is compatible with most
common keyboards and mice - PS2, 6-pin MiniDIN (2)
- USB (Keyboard Mouse only)
- Legacy Sun Micro, 8-pin MiniDIN
16Keyboard and MouseTranslation
- Any keyboard and mouse transmitter input is
automatically translated to all other types for
universal receiver compatibility
No more 3rd party translator dongles!!
