2WHAT IS DUAL CREDIT?
- Dual Credit allows a student to fulfill high
school graduation credits and earn college credit
for the same class. - Should be noted
- Dual Credit is a Blinn class, taught by Blinn
faculty, but on the Bellville High campus. - Dual Credit classes follow the college calendar
and adhere to college policies and procedures,
specifically in regards to attendance. - Student will have a permanent college transcript.
3DUAL CREDIT ELIGIBILITY
- Completed sophomore year of high school
- Grade average of 3.0 (B Average)
- Must demonstrate college readiness with scores on
the TSI Assessment or be exempt - New State Law Must have Bacterial Meningitis
shot if attending class on college campus (unless
qualify for waiver)
4BENEFITS OF DUAL CREDIT

- May earn Advanced Measure for the DAP with a
grade of A or B - Blinn ID
- Earns access to all Blinn College facilities
(library, student center, etc) and events
(academic, athletic, music, theater) - Access to local area discounts where offered
Students are responsible for confirming that
courses are required for 4-year
college/university degree plans and/or accepted
at a private institution.

8CHALLENGES
- Required to pass college readiness test
- TSI Assessment
- Requires strong self-discipline and
self-direction - College courses can be demanding in the level and
amount of work that must be completed - College courses require more time
- Should consider extracurricular activities and
schedule constraints - Dual Credit will cost money (tuition, books,
supplies) - Payment plans are available
9COLLEGE EXPECTATIONS
- Prepare for class in advance
- Read text ahead of time
- Study ... Schedule 4-6 hours per week per class
- Know when to ask from help from your instructor
- Participate and ask questions
- Take thorough notes, do not count on review sheet
- Attend class
- Blinn College has an attendance policy. Must
attend class to earn credit.
10GRADING
- College much different than high school
- No progress reports, No report cards each six
weeks - One FINAL GRADE, cumulative, will be posted at
the end of the semester. This grade as is will
appear on the students high school report card.
The alpha grade will appear on the students
Blinn transcript. - The student is responsible for following course
syllabus, keeping track of grade and/or points
earned during semester ...... AND keeping parents
informed. - College grades are not mailed out.
