Kodak and Privacy Notices

• In 1997 Kodak.com launched its privacy notice.
• Kodak was one of the first companies to receive
  the BBBOnline Privacy Seal.
• In January 2001 Kodak appointed its first Chief
  Privacy Officer.
• On October 2001 Kodak certified under the EU / US
  Safe Harbor Program.
• Kodak was one of the founding members of the
  Privacy Leadership Initiative.

Notices Project

• Feedback from focus groups indicated that our
  privacy notice was too long and therefore not
  informative.
• In reviewing data, it was clear that Kodak
  consumers were not reading Kodaks Privacy
  Notice.
• Through the Privacy Leadership Initiative,
  information was gathered indicating that
  consumers trust about doing business on the
  Internet was low due to privacy concerns.

• Kodak had developed leadership practices with
  respect to privacy and had a desire to
  communicate those effectively to consumers.
• In addition, Kodak was looking for solutions for
  presenting privacy information at data collection
  places other than the Internet.

Next Steps

• Kodak has participated in the Notices Project
  since its inception.
• We participate on several committees, including
  ones to address design, vocabulary and liability.
• We are in the process of revising our longer
  notice to be consistent with the proposed
  template and any proposed glossary or vocabulary
  developed.

Next Steps (cont)

• We plan to convene focus groups to review notices
  prior to launch.
• However, before launch will occur, issues
  regarding globalization and liability must be
  addressed.
• Kodak piloted a Highlights Notice when issuing
  its HIPAA Notice in April of 2003.
