  as a common assessment
• Implemented the Writers Workshop model at the
  elementary level

• Implemented the Pearson Inform data management
  system at the building and district level
• Added 8th grade EXPLORE data to Pearson Inform

  for the Michigan Literacy Progress Profile (MLPP)

• Developed plan to successfully administer the new
  Michigan Merit Exam

• Hosted two Parent Workshops on substance abuse
  prevention (1 elementary- 1 middle school)
• Conducted canine searches at the secondary level

• Security cameras (five elementary entrances,
  pools fitness entrances, high school) installed
  or will be installed over the summer.
• Coordinated Citizens Readiness Initiative
  training for emergency distribution of anthrax
  antidotes.

• Improved HVSTV by developing new shows such as
  FOCUS- which features the Superintendent monthly
• Increased hours of programming vs. power point

• Completed Career Tech Video
• Developed a promotional campaign for Pools
  Fitness

  by establishing the Advocacy and the 4 C Groups
• Launched 4C newsletter The Collaborator
• Established a Superintendents Advisory Council
  to address challenges and promote a common vision

• Enrolled over 100 Schools of Choice students
  (goal was 75)
• Established joint fundraiser with HVEF targeting
  HVS vendors and parents
• Developed informational campaign for
  parents/community about school funding crisis

• Formed a Building Utilization Study Team to
  research the issues and make Board recommendations

• Formed an Energy Essential Team, comprised of
  instructional and support personnel, to determine
  strategies that reduce energy costs
• Conducted Fiscal Facts presentations to building
  staff, parents, union leadership and parent
  groups

• Formed a District Benefits Committee
• Decreased the cost of benefits by the increase in
  co-pays for the COAT Team, Confidential
  Secretaries and MOST Team
• Decreased cost of benefits for the HVSSP and
  AFSCME employee groups
• Established a contracted service program for
  administrators, guest teachers and the Director
  of Community Education and Recreation
