Appearance and Habitat

• 28 inches tall
• Black and white
• 8 to 14 lbs
• Very long tail
• White eye ring
• Rocky beaches of Antarctic
• Lives with other penguins

Chicks and Eggs

• They lay one or two eggs
• Takes three weeks for the chicks to hatch
• Their chicks grow the fastest
• Often only one chick survives
• They make their nests out of pebbles

Interesting Facts

• Adelie penguins are the smallest of the penguins
  living on the Antarctica continent
• They were named after the wife of a French
  explorer in the 1830s
• There are over 2.5 million breeding pairs living
  in the Antartica region
• They often move on land by sledding downhill on
  their bellies

Our Penguin Poem

• Penguins are fun,
• but they cant run,
• some you will find in the sun but you will never
  just find one. They waddle to the sea, theyre
  the cutest creatures to me.
