1Norman Edward Lane Jr
- Born February 23 1941 in Brownsville, Tennessee
2Norman decided to join the Marines Corps at an
early age. He attended OSC (Officers Candidate
School) and The Officers Basic Infantry School at
Quantico, Virginia around 1966 and 1967 in order
to prepare for the Marines Corps.
3After training Norman Lane was shipped to serve
with the Marines Corps November 15th 1967.
Lane was stationed in South Vietnam in the
province of Quang Tri.
4Norman Lane Jr was First Lieutenant for the
Marines Corps during Vietnam.
He was part of the Kilo Company, Third Battalion,
Fourth Marine Regiment and Third Marine Division.
He also was apart of the Thundering Third.
5- During Norman's time at Vietnam he help save
tons of his fellow soldiers. There was a problem
with the 81 mortar that they shot because the
guns were shooting short rounds and they didn't
go as far as they should. - Mathematically Norman figures out that the rounds
were only 80 of thee strength and that could
kill their own men. - The guns were fixed and thanks to Norman no one
was killed and his team was safe!

The Purple Heart For a commendable act/heart
Combat Action Ribbon For a performance under
fire that was satisfactory
Vietnam Service Medal For serving contiguous
waters or airspace after July 3, 1965 and before
March1973
Republic of Vietnamese Campaign Medal Given by
government of the Republic of Vietnam to allied
service personnel who served in Vietnam for the
minimum of 180 days.

- On March 29, 1968, four months into his service,
Norman's Battalion was under attack. Norman was
killed by either artillery, rocket, or a mortar. - Norman is greatly missed an will always be in our
memories.
