and about (30 km) west to Tripoli. The beach
stretches for more than 200 m where the dense
pine forest has an area of 110 hectares.

important monuments. Leptis Magna is the nearest

contains several charming mosaic paintings inside

world. The monuments and the famous city museum
besides the ox -wrestling ring need more than two
days tour for the tourists.2. Natural
featuresA) Beaches Al Khoms is famous for its
charming beaches mainly Ibsiss, Naggaza, Sillin,
Ghneima and Tweibia, and others. They are a
popular destination for people in summer both
city residents and visitors from other cities,
including Tripoli.B) Forests Al Khoms forests
are good for relaxation, besides a park and
natural reserve in Naggaza, about ( 6 km) west to
Sillin.

  • It is a modest, small sea coast, with moderate
    features, lying half way along the western coast
    of Jamahiriya. It is 25 kms east of Al Khoms
    city, 7 kms south of the coastal road.
    Geographically it lies between longitude lines

Tourism importanceMonuments The monumental
city of Leptis Magna, about 90 kms to the west,
and Villa Silin 30 kms west. Ruins An ancient
water development, believed to be associated with
the irrigation of the monumental city of
Leptis.Recreation sites Beaches stretching both
east and west of the Tweibya beach. Many of them
are far better than the location, with regards to
the natural features and tourist
features.Natural areas Kaam spring covers about
1.6 kms on the beach, and about 3 kms on dry
land, It is a lake formed by preserving spring
water through a runway of the Kaam Valley, near
its mouth in the Mediterranean. This location
has excellent natural features where the
Eucalyptus and Acacia trees grow on the west bank
of the valley, and a group of beautiful farms
flourish on its east bank. (See attached notes.)

    from Tarabulus by the Coastal Road is 465 km and
    from Benghazi 563 km.

Tourism importanceSirt has specific touristic
potential. By its central Location between the
Tarabulus and Benghazi agglomeration it could
become a preferential stop over point for
regional andnational traffic. This should be
considered in the formulation of seafront
proposals.The beaches are bordered on the south
by urbanized areas all along th Master Plan
limits. Accessibility is excellent which leads to
the presumption that future beach development may
include facilities of a mainly intensive
recreational use.

significant historical events, particularly the

Brothers Fillini in Sultan, the Sirt gulf. As
well as this it had undergone Turkish and
Italian occupation. The major sites are the
martyrs' graveyard known as the 40,000 martyr
graveyard, the ancient Turkish mosque besides
some ruins of the Old Italian forts and the port.

part of the E1 Khalij region Azzuwaytinah lies on
the coast some 25 km north west of the ,ah s

extremely rural appearance despite the proximity
of the dominating feature of the desalination
plant. Palm tree group, mosque and compact low
rise housing creates an attractive appearance.
The views out towards the coast from the town are

style ( though discussed ) police station adds
some interest to the town, located in the south
west close to the desalination plant.The beach
resort south west of the desalination plant
includes a two storey cafe building with terrace,
views from which are extensive and a definite
feature of interest.

eastern area of Libya, ( 60 km) east of Benghazi

Location Tolmeetha beach extends along
the north eastern coast of the Jamahiriya, and
belongs to Tolmeetha conference, Almarj
populates. Tolmeetha town is about (40 km) east
of Tukra, (100 km) east to Benghazi and separated
from Almarj town by a mountain chain about ( 3
km) wide.

museum.2.Natural featuresA) The beach
Tolmeetha has a rocky beach and a sandy one
clean and pure. There area is convenient for
several tourist activities and sports along these
charming beaches B) The green mountains
Tolmeetha lies between the beach and the green
mountains. The mountains are directly joined to
the beach in an area called Almalka, a naturally
beautiful mountain area.

Location Sousa city lies on the north
eastern coast of the Great Jamahiriya (36 km)
north of Albeida, ( 60 km) west to Derna
and is bordered by Almahboul valley on the east
and Ras Amer on the West. It belongs to Aljabal
Alkahdar populate.

Tourism importance1.Heritage
featuresIt is one of the major tourist areas in
Libya, and among the finest archeological cities.
"Shahat" is the capital of these Phoenician -
archeological cities. It became the capital of
the region during the Byzantine era. It contains
many important monuments such as Alduke palace,
the Byzantine fort and Cathedrals, the Hellenist
theatre, the Greek graveyard and the old port.
2.Natural resourcesA) The beach Sousa has a
beautiful sandy beach where the famous summer
escort is located. It stretches for 33 km to
Raselhelal beaches.B) Forests the Green
Mountain forests in both Shahhat " Cyren" and
Beida, Wadielkuf, South West to Sousa, as well as
Ras elhelal dense forests, with valleys and
waterfalls that constitute a natural source of
tourist attraction.

Location Raselhelal region lies along
the south-eastern coast of Libya. Raselhelal city
is about (41 km) west of Derna and belongs to
Derna populate. It is about (23 km) south of
Algubba town, (15km) east of Sousa. It rises
gradually above sea-level to 450m.

important area for tourism, where tourists can

reasons1.Heritage featuresMonuments The
Eastern and Western cathedrals of Athroun dating
back to the Byzantine era, are of religious and
historical significance, as well as the Raselhal
cathedral.The Angelical stand of St. Markus, a
suspended cave in Markus valley, associated with
a Christian conversationalist the Bible of St.
Markus, a son of the Green Mountain village,
Raselhelal and Elathroun village, Raselhelal

Raselhelal beach, above sea level, or the sandy
beach is among the most beautiful beaches of the
Green Mountains and the whole of Libya. Major
beaches Alsweihil and Alnishar.B)The forest
the dense forests of trees and bushes have vast
evergreen areas of the Green Mountains. The area
is rich with springs, rainfalls and green
valleys, especially Ominnamous spring in Markus
valley and the waterfall spring in

Location Ras Eltin beach lies along
the north eastern coast of Libya, about ( 40 km
) east of Derna , ( 18 km) north of Omirozzam
village. It is a basic conference in Algobba
populate, (100 km) from the beach. It is a group
of bays ( 12 km) long, mostly sandy beaches
separated from the southern surroundings by three
salt areas.

featuresMainly Raseltin graveyard dates back to

discovered on the seashore.2. Natural
featuresThe sea is the major resource for
tourism in this area as it is not directly
affected by the wind motion as the beach faces to

services1.Roads the beach is joined to a
branch coastal road that joins Derna and Tobruk
on the east through Omerozam conference and it
directly passes by the beach.2.Electricity
Omerozam and Raseltin beaches have connected
network linked to the main link through

network joins the area with a desalination site (
2 km ) east to Raseltin beach4.Communications
Omerozam station is equipped with a telephone

there are 3 polyclinics "Raseltin , Omerozam and

weekly public one.

Location Albardi area lies about ( 125
km) to the east of Tobruk, bordered on the north
and east by the Mediterranean, where the Bordi
bays and beaches stretch. Each bay 2-3 km. They
are about 4 bays ( 5km) north from the frontier
town of Imsaid. It was named after Bordi
Suleiman, and was established during the Turkish
state and is attached to Batnan populate.

Tourism importance It is
a transit area as well as spot for a short stop
as it has these features.Heritage featuresThe
most important of these date back to World War
Two. The major features are1)The British
captive's room, with paintings that make it a
site visited by many tourists , painted in
1942.2)The Italian cemetery it is the graveyard
of the Italian soldiers from World War Two. The
memorial column still stands there, despite the
neglected area. 3) Roman monuments. There are
some scattered Roman ports.Infrastructure and
basic services1.Roads the area is connected
with the coastal road by a branch road which
joins it with Egypt, about ( 5 km). It is a road
that extends through mountains which gradually
rise from north to south.2.Electricity the area
is supplied by an electric network that extends
to the border, attached to the control office in
Tobruk.3.Water the area is supplied with water
by a network that is joined to an upper dam. This
dam collects the water from three ground tanks
that are supplied from two underground
wells.4.Communications a communication center
is joined with an electromechanic unit in the
area, and a cent metric station, connected with
Egypt .5.Health services a country hospital is
equipped with a small theatre and an
ambulance6.Police stations There is a public
security center.7.Shopping centres there are
some shops in the Imsaid area of the border
crossing trade areas.
