CERES Instrument Anomaly
  • CERES-Fore (FM4) Short-wave Channel Anomaly
  • March 30th at 089/1842 GMT the Short-wave
channel bridge balance electronics failed to
update the bridge settings as the spacelamp value
fell outside the established window of 50-200
    counts
  • March 31st First Anomaly Team Meeting
  • CERES-Aft (FM3) placed in Cross-Track Mode
  • April 1st 14th Conducted various diagnostic
    tests
  • April 15th CERES/ESMO Meeting _at_ GSFC
  • April July CERES IOT FOT Adjust Bridge
    Balance
  • June 28th CERES/ESMO Meeting _at_ LaRC
  • July 19th CERES IOT adjusts sensor temperatures

10
CERES Instrument Anomaly
11
AMSU Instrument Anomaly
  • AMSU A1-2 Noisy Bus Current Rise
  • Since the beginning of May an increase in the
daily maximum motor current for the scanner has
been observed (see next slide - scan motor
    current trend)
  • June 24th JPL reported anomaly in their Weekly
    Report
  • July 28th AMSU Anomaly Team Kickoff Meeting
  • JPL, GSFC (ESMO/POES), NGES NGST, NOAA and MIT
  • ART concluded that the observed increase in scan
motor current was indicative of normal wear and
didnt warrant further investigation at this time
  • IOT FOT will continue to monitor the
    performance
  • ART will review the trends in 6-months

Scan Motor Current Trend
13
MODIS Instrument Anomaly
  • MODIS SpectroRadiometric Calibration Assembly
    (SRCA) Anomaly
  • May 17th at 137/010730 GMT during the 20W
portion of the SRCA full spatial calibration
there was abnormal output from the calibration
    lamps
  • May 20th First Anomaly Team Meeting
  • June 28th Lamp Test confirmed 10 Watt Lamp 3
    failed
  • Terra (PFM) SRCA 10W Lamp 2 Failed (5/25/04
    172 hrs)
  • Aqua (FM1) SRCA 10W Lamp 2 Inconsistent (4/14/03
    188 hrs)
  • Aqua (FM1) SRCA 10W Lamp 3 Failed ( 5/17/05
    206 hrs)
  • July 27th MODIS SRCA Lamp Failure Review Board
    Kickoff
