How To Compost
Composting is actually pretty easy. You can
compost your yard waste and/or your food waste.
  • How to Compost your yard waste
  • Take grass clippings, leaves, stalks, dead
    plants, twigs and some weeds
  • Dump them all into a plastic, wood or wire bin.
You can even just make a pile in your yard
  • Make sure that you Do not compost weeds seeds,
invasive weeds like ivy (They will replant),
diseased plants, pet waste, clippings treated
with weed or bug killers or food waste.
  • After putting yard waste into a bin all you have

  • Compostable foods are fruits, vegetables, egg
shells, grains and tea bags. You can also compost
    used paper napkins.
  • A great place to put your food waste is in a
green cone. A green cone is a cone like bin that
you bury half-way in the ground. You just dump
all your food waste in the cone and let it sit
    for about 6 months.
  • If you are a Seattle resident then you can put
your food waste and your yard waste together.
  • You can also use worm bins, or homemade boxes
    with a moistened wet bedding.
  • Do not compost fish, meat, dairy or pet waste.
