Construction and Installation Estimating
Documents
Two types of construction documents must be
prepared when bidding a relatively complex new
customer installation
  • Job Take-Off and Estimation Plan
  • Job Bid or Installation Proposal

Job Take-Off and Estimation Plan The Job
Take-Off and Estimation Plan is an internal
company document used to list and detail all
components of the gas distribution system, and to
itemize costs needed for preparing the formal job
bid presented to the customer or builder. After
obtaining a set of construction drawings and
available specifications, the designer is ready
to do a job take-off.

Construction and Installation Estimating
Documents
  • Important points to remember
  • Construction drawings and documents are useful
for future service work at the customer
    locations.
  • Retaining them in customer files makes appliance
add-ons and system modifications easier, and
provides useful information for designing and
bidding other new customer projects in the
    future.
  • Some jurisdictional authorities require
contractors to retain both types of documents
(as drawn as built) and/or file a set with
the jurisdictional authority before the final
inspection of the project will be completed and a
    certificate of occupancy is issued.
  • The ability to work with construction drawings
and properly estimate job costs demonstrates to
other building professionals that you and your
company should be asked to bid on future
    projects.
