Title: Smart Cookies step by step biomedical intervention

1
Smart Cookiesstep by step biomedical intervention
  • Biomedical intervention involves
  • Working out what is different in the
    biochemistry of an ASD individual
  • Biochemical abnormalities disrupt brain
chemistry and lead to ASD symptoms
  • Treating abnormalities can improve behaviour,
    social ability, anxiety, reflux, hearing,
infections, quality of life. Improves response
to learning techniques, psychology and speech
    therapy.
  • Abnormalities run in families but lead to
    different symptoms fatigue, ADHD, arthritis,
    depression, bowel and hormonal problems.

2
Preliminary Pathology tests
  • Urine amino/ organic acid tests
  • Faecal microbial analysis
  • IgG 93 food allergy panel
  • Other tests can be done after these issues are
addressed and a nutritious well balanced diet has
been maintained for around 9 weeks
  • - e.g. Metallothionein, IgA/ IgE, DPPIV, heavy
    metals, liver detoxification profile
  • Metabolic profile will change with adequate
    nutrition and good gut bugs.

3
Urine organic/ amino acids
  • Indicate obvious genetic disease
  • (e.g. Phenylketonuria)
  • Indicate protein malnutrition/ kidney problems/
    extent of infections
  • Done by most pathology labs in Australia

4
Faecal Microbial Analysis
  • Find out what is living in the gut most ASD
individuals and other family members have
    abnormal flora
  • BIOSCREEN www.bioscreenmedical.com
  • Test includes anaerobes and pathogens not
    assessed by other labs.
  • Common problems Clostridium, Streptococcus,
    Candida
  • Produce nerve toxins, auto-antibodies, alcohol,
toxins that disrupt brain function. Can induce
    ASD symptoms in mice.
  • Treat with a combination of antibiotics and
antifungals to prevent colitis and worsening of
the problem. A die off reaction will be seen.
    Specifically treat spore formers like
    Clostridium.
  • Put good bugs back into the gut
  • Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, E.coli DAIRY FREE
    probiotics
  • Feed them good food!!!

5
IgG food Allergy Panel
  • Food allergies need to be addressed at the same
    time as gut bugs.
  • Bad bugs kept away by secretary IgA antibodies -
low levels found in ASD individuals and families
  • Secretary IgA is not produced if IgG antibodies
    are present in the blood
  • IgG antibodies normally fight pathogens inside
the blood can be generated to different foods
    when gut is compromised.
  • Eliminating IgG foods and IgG triggering bugs
will allow secretary IgA production and gut
    protection.
  • Secretary IgA can be stimulated with probiotics
  • BAD BUGS WONT GROW BACK !!!
  • ARL Analytical Reference Laboratories
    www.arlaus.com.au
  • Best not to send overseas for this test
  • Changing diet before fixing gut bugs encourages
allergy to develop to new foods
  • Most common allergies milk, wheat, soy, eggs,
    cola, yeast
  • Also in other family members with different
    health problems (ADHD, weight problems,
    depression, fatigue) runs in families!!!

6
More on immune dysfunction
  • High IgG antibody levels cause autoimmune
    diseases (e.g. arthritis, diabetes, MS).
  • Auto-antibodies to milk and Streptococcus toxins
may attack brain cells in ASD
  • IgG levels increased by vaccine link between
    vaccine, autoimmune diseases and ASD
  • Wastes zinc and amino acids, impairs liver
    function
  • Imbalance in sIgA/IgG possibly occurred at birth
if IgG was triggered in baby before good bugs
were introduced sIgA switched off/ IgG switched
    on
  • Vaccine could then be final assault to trigger
    autoimmune disease.
  • Predisposition to autoimmune disease in families
Prospective mums should get their allergies
    tested!!!

7
Diet/ Nutrition
  • Poor stomach acid, bile flow, digestive enzymes
    and increased gut permeability effects
    nutritional status and digestion
  • Incompletely digested proteins from gluten (found
in wheat, oats, rye, barley, spelt, triticale)
and casein (in all dairy products) have a similar
    chemical structure to natural neurohormones
    otherwise called opiates/ endorphins (like
    heroin/morphine)
  • Very potent small amount makes you feel elated,
large amount bombards senses and switches off
some brain signals leads to social deficit
problems, lack of creative play etc.
  • Inhibits pain response increases stimming and
    self harming behaviours.
  • Addictive!!! You will get withdrawal reaction
from avoiding them be strict and be wary of
    play dough, toothpaste, pet food.
  • Read Dr Shaws book on line or order it from
  • www.greatplainslaboratory.com
  • Mostly avoiding gluten/ dairy and IgG allergens
    is not good enough
  • a little goes a long way

8
Chemical and food sensitivity
  • Toxic assault from chemicals and heavy metals may
    trigger ASD
  • All ASD individuals are sensitive to chemicals
    and have poor liver detoxification
  • Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome in adults
    exposed to workplace chemicals triggers
    development of ASD symptoms.
  • Chemicals are nasty - keep perfumes, natural gas,
pyrethroids, treated pine, solvents, chlorine out
    of the house!!!
  • Natural and artificial chemicals in food need to
be avoided during the 9 weeks and during other
biomedical intervention protocols to reduce side
    effects.
  • Salicylates, amines, MSG, colours, flavours,
    preservatives all require detoxification
processes that do not work well in ASD.
  • Salicylates can act like adrenaline and trigger
    behavioural problems they deplete zinc,
increase gut permeability, reduce sulphation and
induce hearing and auditory processing problems
    can effect speech
  • Amines can act like dopamine and trigger
    addiction/ behavioural problems
  • Chemical sensitivity can be reduced by specific
minerals and amino acids once a balanced diet is
    in place
  • For more information on food chemicals see
    Failsafe information pages www.fedupwithfoodadditi
    ves.info/index.htmbuttons

9
Basic Nutrition/ supplementation
  • Blood sugar disorders
  • Come with poor liver function. A high starch/
sugar, high GI diet can increase hyperactivity
    and seizures in epilepsy
  • Avoid eating everything made from rice!!!
  • Ensure enough protein and fiber is eaten
  • Meat is important on a low allergy diet. Choose
nutritious flours like bean flour, amaranth and
    quinoa
  • Supplements are important but not harmless
  • Fish oil, cod liver oil, multivitamins, minerals,
probiotics are good but do not provide protein,
amino acids and fiber essential to good health.
High levels of some vitamins can cause serious
    side effects.
  • There is no magic pill avoid quack formulas
    that offer unrealistic outcomes

10
Conclusions
  • Consider the order of your biomedical
    intervention
  • improve health and you will improve outcomes
  • Rule out genetic disease with amino/organic acid
    tests
  • Assess and address gut bugs
  • Investigate and eliminate IgG food allergies
  • Eliminate gluten and dairy products
  • Remove environmental toxins
  • Learn about food chemicals
  • Design a nutritious low GI diet
  • Add some good supplements to improve nutritional
    status
  • Assess other interventions when behaviour and
    health have improved
