Political Climate
  • High demand for funding to support
  • GWOT, Katrina, modernization (F-22, FCS, Reset,
    etc.), people programs, Homeland Defense and
    Security, etc.
  • There just isnt enough money to go around!
  • Presidents Budget implements QDR
  • Proposed personnel cuts in ARNG to restructure
    BCTs
  • Not sure of ANG proposed cuts?
  • NGAUS acted quickly!
  • What are the options?
  • More funding (increased deficits)
  • Delay modernization (costs go up even more)
  • Cut personnel (seems to be the choice)
  • What we need to do
  • Emphasize our strengths
  • Use our grassroots political support and lobby
    hard!

The Role of NGAUS

    territories, associations, industry and other
    organizations to lobby on behalf of our members
    for the resources we need to succeed.
  • Maintain a library and museum to establish an
    archive for the National Guard and educate the
    public on the role of the National Guard in
    National Defense and Homeland Security

The National Guard Association of the United
