5The housing market in Flanders why the market
in still strong
- The Flemish are said to be born with a brick in
their stomach a lot of them want to buy or build
their own house. Due to the large demand, the
offer is becoming more and more limited. The
available building lots and the number of houses
for sale are not inexhaustible and consequently
housing prices have risen considerably in the
last years. The high real estate prices stayed
stable till today. Although real estate may be
very expensive, the number of house-owners in
Flanders continues to increase. One of the main
explanations for this is that a house of your own
is a desirable status symbol. Almost 80 is owner
of its own house. - Even though real estate may be expensive, most
of the Flemish opt for the most advantageous
option buying. And as there is not really a drop
in demand, property prices are not likely to
decrease in the near future. In any case, the
cliché of the Flemish being born with a brick in
their stomach is herewith confirmed.
One of the reasons Real Estate is stable in
Belgium!
