• Here is our project on native American Indians

• A fire is built in the centre of a tepee to keep
  them warm.
• Sometimes the wigwam becomes full of smoke, this
  is why there is a small hole in the top of the
  tepee to allow smoke to pass out.
• It is small and they have to fit eight to ten
  people in there.
• The homes of the Sioux tribe were called wigwams
  in other words tepees.

Buffalo

• The tribe hunts Buffalo for there daily food and
  supplies.
• The tribe ride there horses many distances, to
  reach these Buffalo.
• On there way they meet other Buffalo hunters and
  do there trade.
• Most people say that a Buffalo for the native
  Americans was like a walking supermarket.
• They communicate to each other, to say there is
  a Buffalo by raising there hands above the ears
  and moving there index fingers around.

• Once a Buffalo had been killed, the women would
  go to skin the Buffalo from were it had died.
• Then the women would carry their meats and skins
  home.
• The thick skin from a Buffalo was used for
  shields.
• Buffalo fat was used for soap and the roughness
  from inside the tongue would have been used for a
  hairbrush.

Medicines

• The Native American Indians had a good knowledge
  of plants which could cure sickness.
• They used powdered root of the skunk cabbage to
  relieve asthma.
• A lot of the drugs they used have been
  recognisable in the U.S.A.

Ceremonies and Dances

• The Sioux tribe have Ceremonies and dances to
  represent different things to do with different
  relations to there religion.
• Here are a few examples of Ceremonies and Dances,
  The sun dance, The ghost dance and like the birth
  or death of somebody is very important to the
  tribe, and the marriage between two people from
  the tribe.

Polygamy

• Polygamy is where a woman marries more men.
• They did this because men were cutting down so
  women needed to marry them and have more babies
  which some of which would be boys.
• These boys would grow up and learn to be a
  warrior in warfare.
• These boys would then get married in there
  teenage ages.
• They would also get married to more than one
  woman and have more babies so this is just like a
  cycle.
