Facts about Ayers Rock

• Ayers Rock is located in the center of Australia,
  in Alice Springs.
• Uluru is the homeland of the Pitjantjatjara and
  Yankunytjatjara people. Uluru was returned to
  their care in 1985, and continues to be so today
• Ayers Rock is located at Uluru-Kata Tjuta
  National Park.
• The park was formally known as Ayers Rock/Mount
  Olga National Park, but was given the name
  Uluru-Kata Tjuta in 1977.

More Facts about Ayers Rock.

• Ayers Rock is the largest monolith in the world.
  Standing 1,110 feet above the ground, and close
  to 5miles around.
• The name Ayers Rock came from an European
  explorer by the name of Ernest Giles, in 1977.
• But this monolith had already been named
  previously by the aboriginals, who had entitled
  it Uluru.
• The original name along with all of the culture
  was restored in 1977.

What makes it so interesting?

• many people come to climb Ayers Rock, but some
  will die trying. The hike up is not an easy one
  even with a given path. The path is very steep
  and is strenuous to some, even if they are in
  perfect health and fitness.
• Besides being the largest single boulder in the
  world, Ayers Rock has the ability to change
  colors. The color is determined by the climate,
  temperature, and the time of day.
• Colors can be browns, grays, reds, oranges,
  blues, violets, and yellows, and can transition
  within a matter of moments. Example is has been
  said to change from red to purple at sunset.

Color Transformations of Uluru
This is a darker example of one of the many
colors of Uluru. Usually at night, or during bad
weather.
This is dark but not too dark, from lack of
light, so maybe after the sun is set, but not
night.

Uluru is said to turn from red to purple, when
the sunsets nearly everyday, this is one of the
best times to watch these transformations.
This is the color of Uluru throughout the
sunny parts of the day! One of the more natural
colors that is close to the tan color that is the
true color of Uluru.

• Aborigines have the longest continuous cultural
  history of any group of people on Earth - dating
  back - by some estimates - 65,000 years
• The spiritual beliefs of the aboriginals are all
  throughout the inner caves of Uluru.
• The Dreamtime is a collection of stories about
  how the world came to be, how human beings were
  created, and how the Creator intended for humans
  to function within the cosmos.
• These stories have been pasted down for
  centuries, generation to generation, and they are
  continuing to do so strongly, while also being
  the leaders of the longest practiced cultural
  history.

how humans are suppose to interact with the
cosmos.

? Ayers Rock is a valued Geographical feature
that should be more common. ? The aboriginals
make Uluru more appealing because of their
history of culture and beliefs, which intrigues
tourists to come and experience. ? It is truly
unique because of its size, placement and mainly
because of the different appearances that it can
possess.
