• He has exalted the might of your adversaries.
• Their heart cried out to the Lord,

• Let your tears run down like a river day and
  night
• Give yourself no relief,
• Let your eyes have no rest.
• Arise, cry aloud in the night
• At the beginning of the night watches
• Pour out your heart like water
• Before the presence of the Lord
• Lift up your hands to Him
• For the life of your little ones
• Who are faint because of hunger

• Lev. 2614-17
• But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out
  all these commandments, if, instead, you reject
  My statutes, and if your soul abhors My
  ordinances so as not to carry out all My
  commandments, and so break My covenant, I, in
  turn, will do this to you I will appoint over
  you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that
  will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to
  pine away also, you will sow your seed
  uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.
•    I will set My face against you so that you
  will be struck down before your enemies and
  those who hate you will rule over you, and you
  will flee when no one is pursuing you.

• Loyalty that is all God ever wants
• Hos. 66
• For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice,
• And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt
  offerings.
• Ps. 5116,17
• For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I
  would give it
• You are not pleased with burnt offering.
• The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit
• A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will
  not despise.

• Mankind unable to save themselves
• Rom. 310-12
• as it is written,
• There is none righteous, not even one
• There is none who understands,
• There is none who seeks for God
• All have turned aside, together they have become
  useless
• There is none who does good,
• There is not even one.

• Foretold in OT
• Ez. 3626 (replace heart of stone with heart of
  flesh)
• Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a
  new spirit within you and I will remove the
  heart of stone from your flesh and give you a
  heart of flesh.
•    I will put My Spirit within you and cause you
  to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful
  to observe My ordinances.

• Jer. 3133-34 (God will write the law on their
  hearts)
• But this is the covenant which I will make with
  the house of Israel after those days, declares
  the Lord, I will put My law within them and on
  their heart I will write it and I will be their
  God, and they shall be My people.
•      They will not teach again, each man his
  neighbor and each man his brother, saying, Know
  the Lord, for they will all know Me, from the
  least of them to the greatest of them, declares
  the Lord, for I will forgive their iniquity, and
  their sin I will remember no more.

• Rom. 319-23 (Through the law comes knowledge of
  sin!)
• Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks
  to those who are under the Law, so that every
  mouth may be closed and all the world may become
  accountable to God because by the works of the
  Law no flesh will be justified in His sight for
  through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
•    But now apart from the Law the righteousness
  of God has been manifested, being witnessed by
  the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness
  of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all
  those who believe for there is no distinction
  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
  of God,

  church,  which is His body, the fullness of Him
  who fills all in all.

  now working in the sons of disobedience.

• Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts
  of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh
  and of the mind, and were by nature children of
  wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in
  mercy, because of His great love with which He
  loved us, even when we were dead in our
  transgressions, made us alive together with
  Christ (by grace you have been saved),
•     and raised us up with Him, and seated us with
  Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

• There is no one else worthy of it
• Jer. 177-9
• Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord
• And whose trust is the Lord.
• For he will be like a tree planted by the water,
• That extends its roots by a stream
• And will not fear when the heat comes
• But its leaves will be green,
• And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
• Nor cease to yield fruit.
• The heart is more deceitful than all else
• And is desperately sick
• Who can understand it?
