Jamaica

Why I chose Jamaica
  • I chose this country because my parents got
married in Jamaica. My sister and I didn't get to
go so I want to learn more about Jamaica. I also
want to learn more about Jamaica's culture,
    religion, and language.

3
Location
  • Absolute 23ºN 76ºW.
  • Relative South of Cuba. NE of Haiti and
Dominican Republic. West of Mexico. Jamaica is
surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and is close to
    the Gulf of Mexico.

4
Place
  • Physical palm trees, tropical climates, high
    mountains, and sand.
  • Human the people of Jamaica wear the same
clothes as we do. They also eat the same foods as
we do. They also eat chicken and fruit. The music
they listen to is reggae mainly by Bob Marley.
    They speak English.

5
Region
  • Jamaica can be divided into different kinds of
land forms. There are the central mountain chains
formed by igneous and metamorphic rocks, the
Karst limestone hills in the cockpit area and the
low-lying coastal plains and interior valleys.

6
Region 2
  • These regions in Jamaica consist of mountain
ranges, plains, harbors, bays, cays, and mineral
    springs.
  • The people of Jamaica are all survivors. They
live off of the land surrounding them. They enjoy
hunting, fishing, and tourism, which generates
their largest income. They are very crafty
    people.

7
The rest of Region 2
  • They carve wood and make beautiful jewelry. They
are very kind to people who visit the island.
They love to dance and sing. They are also very
good in the water like swimming and catching
    fish.

8
Movement of People
  • The Rastafari movement is a religious movement
that arose in a Christian culture (in the
1930s). The movement is sometimes referred to as
Rastafarianism. Some Rastas are offended by
this term because of the labeling ism.
Rastafari is not a well organized religion. Some
Rastas say that it is not a religion but a way of
    life.

9
Movement of Goods
  • Goods are moved around on the island by truck or
boat. If they grow something on one side of the
island then it gets moved/shipped to the other
    side of the island.
