Career Aspirations
  • Having worked in academic libraries for many
years as a Library Assistant, David thought it
was high time he studied to become a full-fledged
    Librarian!
  • Which is the reason that he is studying for his
Master of Library Science degree at UBC!
  • Upon graduation, he hopes to work in an academic
library, perhaps in a medical or health sciences
    library.

6
Davids interests
  • He loves the cinema and will volunteer at the
Vancouver film festival from September 25
    October 10 (2003).
  • Disclaimer the following is unsuitable for all
    audiences!
  • If any of his classmates want to sneak into the
Vogue Theatre during the festival, let him know

8
Or you can wait for the book
  • That paper is coming out as a book chapter from
Vanderbilt University Press late this year or
    early next year!
  • You are among the first to see the cover art for
the (as-yet unpublished) book Gendercide and
    Genocide.

9
The Gendering of Child Soldiers
  • As you may have gathered, David has a particular
    interest in gender issues.
  • On November 22, he will be presenting a workshop
entitled The Gendering of Child Soldiers at a
teach-in on the subject of child soldiers in
    Vancouver.
  • Stay tuned for details!

10
Davids volunteer interests!

    Network of Amnesty International.
  • He is also an AI Fieldworker, meaning that he

Which led to this photo op!
  • In 1997, David had his photo taken with the
members of the wildly popular Irish band U2!
    (Guess which one is him!)
  • A colleague and he convinced the members of the
band to sign a pledge to support the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and that is just what
one of them is doing in this photo!

12
Where else has David worked?
  • He worked as an Editor and Desk Top Publisher for
a couple of local papers Community Digest and
False Creek News. (Ask him about working there
and youll hear an odd story which you will wish
    had accompanying video!)

13
Anywhere else?
  • David has also worked as a publications assistant
    at Common Ground magazine.
  • And he has worked as a technical writer for a
company called POSH (Point of Sale Hardware)
    Manufacturing.

the Royal Tyrell Museum, seen below, with hoodoos
    in the background.
