Facts

at the rate of 1 every 15 minutes...100 each
    day...and 4,000-6,000 each year.
  • Some estimates indicate that as much as one fifth
of all the species on earth today will have
vanished by the end of the century.

What is an Endangered Animal?
  • An endangered animal is one whose species is on
the verge of going extinct unless steps are taken
    soon to rescue it.
  • Pollutants and other threats in its habitat are
    factors that cause endangerment.
  • When an animal becomes extinct, it is gone
    forever!

4
What is a Threatened Animal?
  • A threatened animal is one that will likely
become endangered unless steps are taken soon to
    reverse habitat destruction and/or pollution.
  • These designations are made by a group of
biologists who study these animals and are
familiar with their needs and numbers.
