Congress July 4, 1776. - This document stated that the United States of
America was now an independent country, separate
from Britain.
Thomas Jefferson
12What if Thomas Jefferson had been caught writing
the Declaration of Independence?
- He would have been killed.
What If ?
13"Give me liberty...
or
give me death!!"
14 This was a speech written by Patrick Henry that
was made to make the Patriots unafraid of death.
They tell us, Sir, that we are weakunable to
cope with so formidable an adversary, but when
shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week,
or the next year? Will it be when we are totally
disarmed, and when a British guard shall be
stationed in every house? Shall we gather by
lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the
delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall
have bound us hand and foot?
