  • The Moon is about 240,000 miles from Earth
  • Takes 27.3 days to orbit the Earth
  • Can be clearly seen with your eyes, but fun to
    view with a telescope

Basic parts of the Moon
  • Surface has many craters on it. These were formed
by meteors crashing into it a long time ago.

4
Trips to the Moon
  • Astronauts travel in space
  • Apollo crew landed July 11, 1969
  • Neil Armstrong, first footprints on the moon

5
We only see one side of the moon.
  • When the moon formed and its inner liquids went
solid, most were pulled toward the Earth
  • Its egg shaped, therefore it cant spin freely
  • Spins with the Earth, this is where the phrase
Dark side of the Moon comes from.
