Biography
  • Alvar Nunuez Cabeza de Vaca was Spanish.
  • His mission was to find the seven golden cities
    with gold, silver, and jewels. He found out
    about these from the Native Americans.
  • He was the only survivor of the Narvaez
    expedition which was a group of 250-300 men led
    by Pasfilo de Narvaez.
  • He told his survivors story from the expedition
    to Spanish leaders in Mexico City.

  • Spain are the people who sponsored us. They were
    looking for seven golden citys. I say that I saw
    one golden city, but maybe I did not!

  • The purpose of the Narvaez expedition was to
    conquer all the lands along the golf of Mexico.
    They had 300 soldiers and 40 horses. They split
    pine trees to make rafts.

  • After 31 days at sea, there rafts were wreaked in
    a storm.
  • The 80 men how reached shore set out to walk
    Mexico city.
  • But the poor health and lack of food killed all
    but four of them.

  • Only 100 had returned many had died others had to
    run away. Coronado arrived back in Mexico city in
    1542.
  • Although Coronado failed to find any riches, he
    had explored vast areas of New Spain.

  • In 1540,Cabez De Vaca appointed governor of the
    Spanish settlement on Rio Dela Plata.
  • Also this be my last entry because Im headed
    home.
