About Chimichurri

• Chimichurri sauce is a sauce that is served with
  grilled meat in Argentina and Uruguay.
• A typical chimichurri sauce will contain
• Parsley
• Minced Garlic
• Oregano
• Vinegar (red or white wine)
• Cumin
• And can also include tomato, sweet pepper,
  paprika, lemon and bay leaves.

What does chimichurri mean?

• The etymology of the word Chimichurri is unclear.
  
• One suggestion is it derives from Che Mi Curry
  where
• Che is a familiar greeting in Argentina
• Mi means my in Spanish
• Curry is a sauce associated with Indian Foods
• Another suggestion is that it could be named
  after someone called Jimmy Curry or Jimmy
  McCurry.
• Chimichurri could also been someones nickname.
• Others think it could derive from the Basque word
  tximitxurri which means a collection of some
  unordered things.

Making Chimichurri

• Finely chop dry ingredients but do not puree. In
  the mixture each ingredient should be
  identifiable.
• Add any spices and then add oil and vinegar.
• There are a variety of recipes available online
  or in recipe books. There are many variations in
  the type and proportion of ingredients.

Mixes

• There are dry Chimichurri mixes available for
  purchase. Just add oil, vinegar, salt and water!
• Alicante Chimichurri Mix is imported from
  Argentina and available in 25 and 50 gram size.
  The 50 gram size makes about 1.5 cups of
  Chimichurri Sauce.
• Condilist La Virginia Chimichurri Mix is the
  professional line of Alicante foods. Their 800
  gram bag is more suited for restaurants and
  events.
• Mixes are affordable, easy to make and will store
  for a long time.

Pre-Made Sauces

• You can also buy jars of pre-made chimichurri
  sauces.
• Gaucho Ranch is made in Miami and can be found at
  some grocery stores and online.
• La Parmesana is a well known brand in Argentina,
  which produces quality Chimichurri.
• You will get it just right with a pre-made
  Chimichurri sauce!
