Money

• Money is a Medium of Exchange.According to most
  economists a medium of exchange traditionally
  possessed five (5) characteristics that qualified
  an item to serve as a medium.
• Divisible. Units of money can be divided into
  smaller units for individual transactions without
  destroying its value.
• Portable. This refers to the mobility or
  transportability of the item.
• Durable. Money must be able to endure the rigors
  of constant wear without rapidly diminishing in
  value.
• Recognizable. A medium of exchange must be widely
  recognized as valuable.
• Scarce. Money must be scarce enough to maintain
  it value in relation to its volume and weight).
• Money is a Standard of Account.
• The shekel in the Old Testament, 11.42 grams of
  fine (pure) silver,
• The talent in the New Testament 22,556 grams of
  fine gold, and
• The dollar in the United States of America 371 ¼
  grains of fine silver (24.1 grams).
• Money is a Store of Value.
• Money must consist of an asset with intrinsic
  value so that it holds its value over time.
• It must be as valuable for the son as it was for
  the father.
• Money represents the stored value of time and
  labor of the worker.
• Money allows the worker to "save" his "excess
  labor'' for future consumption.
• If money does not hold its value over time it is
  equivalent to stealing the time and labor of the
  worker.

A Bit of History

• The Dollar is a fixed standard unit of
  measurement that was established in 1497 by King
  Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. It is a
  minted coin containing at least 3714/16 grains of
  fine (pure) Silver.

• In 1784 Thomas Jefferson said
• If we determine that a dollar shall be our unit,
  we must then say with precision what a dollar
  is." Our founding fathers followed that advice
  and in 1792 the dollar was defined as 371 ¼
  grains of silver. From 1792 until August 15, 1971
  the dollar was defined as a precise weight of
  either silver or gold.

Most people even on Wall Street mistakenly
associate the noun dollar with the Federal
Reserve Note (FRN) dollar bill, engraved with
the portrait of President George Washington. But
no statute defines, or has ever defined, the
Washington FRN as the dollar, or even as a
species of dollar. Moreover, the United States
Code provides that FRNs shall be redeemed in
lawful money on demand at the Treasury Department
of the United States or at any Federal
Reserve bank. So FRNs are not themselves even
lawful money, otherwise, they would not be

  conditions (including requirements for the making

  effectuate the policy herein declared." A code

Rom 135-8 5 Therefore you must be subject, not

In any relation where there are reciprocal
blessings, correspondingly, there are reciprocal
duties. The citizen has duties to the government
by reason of the duties the government owes its
citizens. What is the duty of each is a blessing
to the other. Hence, when either party fails or
violates its duty to the other, it has a decided
bearing on the subsequent duty of the other party
to the relationship. This obtains in all
relationships. Consequently, we see here the
expressed recognition of the duty to pay tribute
to the government because the rulers are
attending continually upon this very thing. What
thing? The thing of protecting the innocent and
punishing the guilty. To establish and maintain
law and order to these ends is the basic and
divinely ordained function of civil government,
and when it fails here, any citizen is justified
in resenting the oppression of paying tribute.
... Our forefathers rebelled against a tyrannical
and insensitive government, and established in
this land a government dedicated to the
proposition that its citizens would be secure in
their lives, liberties and the pursuit of
happiness. In guaranteeing the first two they
secured and protected the pursuit of the latter.
And when these are not provided by an alert,
diligent and honest administration of the state,
the happiness of a people is subverted. The
administration of government needs to be changed
to bring- it to its just and proper functions.

In 1963 the words "WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON
DEMAND" were removed from all newly issued
Federal Reserve notes. Then, in 1968, redemption
of pre-1963 Federal Reserve notes for gold or
silver officially ended. The Coinage Act of 1965
removed all silver from quarters and dimes, which
were 90 silver prior to the act. However, there
was a provision in the act allowing some coins to
contain a 40 silver consistency, such as the
Kennedy Half Dollar. Later, even this provision
was removed, and nearly all coins in general
circulation today are 100 clad.

The prohibition against making provisions for the
flesh is qualified as relating to the purpose of
fulfilling the lusts of the flesh, the lust of
the eye and the pride of life (1 John 216).
Therefore striving to secure the means and
arranging the time for such indulgences is what
is forbidden. Providing for our needs and those
who are dependent on us is a command and a very
vital duty (Eph. 428 1 Tim. 58 2 Thes 310)
Contrasted therewith, however, is the need of
putting on the Lord Jesus Christ. One does this
initially when he is baptized into the name of
Christ (Gal. 327). Therefore it requires a real
effort to put on Christ by following His example
in our life. To grow more like Him in character
and conduct should be the highest ambition and
most laudable endeavor of every Christian
however many and serious be our failings in such
efforts, the effort should always be made, and by
the grace of God success can be attained.
