Title: New Features of CTAP 2
1New Features of CTAP 2 How to Use Them
CTAP Region IV Marin County Office of Education
2CTAP2 Revision Goals
- Reduce completion time by 50
- Reduce number of questions.
- Align Assessment with CCTC Standards 9 16
- Provide better reporting support for EETT
Evaluation
3Old Survey
- Featured multiple weighted responses and a
detailed listing of skills for each category. - A formula determined proficiency level.
4Old Survey
- Approximately 260 question responses
- Time to complete 45-120 minutes
- Server overload problems
- Difficult to administer in large districts
5New Survey
- Total questions in all sections 47
- 84 reduction in questions
- Estimated completion time 20-30 minutes.
6New Survey Strategy
- Focus of assessment will be on technology
integration skills-not application skills. - Reports will be aligned with CCTC Standards 9 and
16.
7What has changed?
- Formerly --gt nine sections of questions in the
Proficiency Assessment. - Two sections eliminated (Publishing and
Instructional Technology) - Seven remaining computer skills categories are
each reduced to one self-rating question.
8More Improvements
- In the old survey, repetition of questions in
each skill area was confusing. - Led teachers to believe they had already
completed the section. - Redundancies have been eliminated.
9Skills Area Improvements
- The style and number of questions in the 7
computer skills areas have changed. - Only one question per skill area.
10Proficiency Level Improvements
- Previously, proficiency levels were determined by
a formula. - Now, teachers will see the criteria for
proficiency levels as they rank themselves.
11The New Survey
- Eliminates 8 Technology Use questions
- Merges the old Technology Use Survey with the
Proficiency survey - Now, only one survey for teachers to take.
-
12Other Adjustments
- Old Technology Use Survey will cease to exist.
Teachers will not be able to update their old
surveys. - Teachers who did not complete the surveys last
year will automatically be directed into the new
system.
13Other Adjustments
- Historical aggregate data will continue to exist.
- Some old questions will be retained.
- Data from old multi-questions will be mapped with
new self-rating for historical reporting. - Not everything connects -- expect some gaps.
14Assessment Retakes
- Prior responses will not be displayed for
post-assessments. - New system forces teachers to re-address the
questions rather than relying on what they
answered last. - Eliminates element of bias.
