What Is an Aerospace Library?

• An aerospace library is a special library
• Its main focus is concerned with all activities
  that deal with aerial locomotion
• Some topics they may cover are Aeronautics,
  Aerospace engineering, Avionics, Computer Sc.,
  Material Science, Mathematics, Physics,
  Mechanical Engineering and other related subjects

• Journals
• Conference Proceedings
• Technical Reports
• Standards and specifications
• CD-ROMs, microfilm and microfiche, videos/DVDs
• Sometimes instruments and relics

Misc. Information On Aerospace Libraries

• Many engineering libraries at universities have
  aeronautics collections, many observatories have
  libraries also
• A majority of aerospace libraries are on the east
  coast
• They would more than likely belong to the SLAs
  Science and Technology Division

  Corporation locations
• Has 100,000 print and electronic books, 145,000
  technical reports, and 12,000 specifications and
  standards

• Smithsonian Institutionone of the largest
  branches in the Smithsonian Institutions library
  system
• Has 4 staff members
• Open to researchers only

  illustrations, portraits, telescope illustrations
• Has 4,000 rare and historical books
• Second largest specialist collection of
  aeronautics in Britain
