American Sign Language Purpose of club
American Sign Language club is open to anyone
who is currently enrolled in ASL, has already
taken ASL or signs fluently. The ASL club tries
to get involved with the high school activities
as well as the middle schools and elementary
schools in our area. We interact with deaf
students around the area and try to make them
feel more welcome. When you join the ASL club you
will not only make new friends and have an
awesome time, but also learn more about American

Beta Club Purpose of club The National Beta
Club is a leadership-service organization that
has been at the KHS since 1995. To become member
students must be a Sophomore or Junior with at
least a 3.5 GPA. New Members are inducted in the
spring. Once inducted, students must earn service
points throughout the year to remain a member.
Seniors in good standing are qualified to wear
black and gold honour cords at graduation.
Interested students fill out the application in
February, pay the necessary dues, and attend the

Choir Purpose of club The KHS Choir is a
nationally recognized choir members must be
enrolled in a choir class. Student must audition
for higher level courses. The KHS Choir performs
at the Regional and All State levels during the
fall and UIL solo, ensemble and large ensemble
contests in the spring. The KHS Choir is a very
active organization performing at various venues
from Kingwood High, to Carnegie Hall in New York.
The Choir also performs at the KHS Homecoming
Game, Pop Show, Christmas Caroling and numerous

Diamond Girls Purpose of club The Kingwood High
School Diamond Girls organization is open to all
9th-12th grade girls who are interested in
supporting the Kingwood High School Varsity
baseball team. The past few years, we have had a
lot of members and have been able to also support
the sub-varsity teams at KHS. We meet during
baseball season to decorate the locker room, make
signs for the games, provide game day goodies and
to cheer the players on at the games. we hold our
first meeting of the year in early December to
select officers, design and order Diamond Girl
shirts etc... Once baseball team tryouts take
place, each girl selects a baseball buddy to
support for the season. we meet upstairs in
LGI-4212 LGI-4312 or by the windows in the flex
area between the two upstairs LGI's. We meet
after school and meetings are always announced
for several days on the morning

Drama Club Purpose of club The theatre
department is pleased to sponsor the drama club
at Kingwood High School. The drama club is purely
a social organization and no involvement in
extracurricular theatre or enrollment in a
theatre class is necessary. The drama club's goal
is to promote camaraderie, fun and service
through the organization of approximately one
major event each month. Meetings are held in the
auditorium on various Thursdays throughout the

Fellowship of Christian Athletes Purpose of
club Membership in the FCA is open to everyone,
with the exception that the officers must be
athletes. The FCA Mission is To present to
athletes and coaches and all they influence, the
challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ
as Saviour and Lord, serving him in their
relationship and in the fellowship of the
church. The KHS FCA continues to maintain the
excellent reputation and high Christian standard
for which the organization is noted. FCA members

baskets for the less fortunate, visiting senior
citizen homes, and other service minded

Kingwood FFA is to make a positive difference in

Lacrosse Purpose of club Kingwood Lacrosse was
started in 1992. Since 2004, the club has
attracted more than seventy young men each year,
and is currently the 3rd largest athletic team at
KHS. We offer both fall and spring programs, with
emphasis in the fall for development of lacrosse
skills and participate in several tournaments.
The spring season starts in early January and
runs through April, culminating in district/state
championships. Information about the club can be
found at our website, www.kwlax.com, as well as
listening for daily announcements for information
during registration periods. Although KWLAX is
officially a club sport and isn't recognized as a
UIL sport, the club adheres to all UIL rules and
guidelines. However, the club doesn't receive any
district funding and all equipment must be

Latin Club Purpose of club The KHS Latin Club
is an organization of students interested in
Mythology, Roman and Greek History, and the Latin
language itself. The Latin Club is very active
in both the Junior Classical League and local
events. The Latin Club is active in the JCL
through its three levels of competition Area,
State, and Nationals. Students compete in
Certamen (a game like jeopardy), Latin Grammar,
Mythology, art categories, and tests over a
variety of subjects. Members participate in KHS
Homecoming parade, a holiday party, club
meetings, activities with other clubs, and many
community projects. Members must be currently
enrolled in a Latin course or be sponsored by a
Latin Club Member. Only members that are
currently, or a have taken Latin are eligible to
compete in the competitions. All members are
encouraged to help produce the club scrapbook as

National Spanish Honor Society Purpose of club
The National Spanish Honor Society is a
nation-wide organization designed to honor
students who have excelled in their studies of
the Spanish Language. Requirements for admission
during the Spring semester are that a student has
achieved three semesters with a grade of "A' and
that he or she must be taking a Spanish course at
the time of admission. Meetings are called from
time to time to keep members informed of

Spanish Club Purpose of club The KHS Spanish
Club, el Circulo Espanol, is an organization of
students who are interested in promoting and
experiencing the culture of the Spanish speaking
world. Meetings are held on Wednesdays at 700
a.m. in room 2110. Some of the activities that
the club participates in are attending cultural
Hispanic events throughout the city,
participating in activities with other language
clubs such as an international Christmas dinner,
and hosting an end of the year banquet. El
Circulo espanol also endeavors to participate in
activities that are beneficial to the community.
The club gives students an opportunity to lead,
organize and plan the activities as officers and

High School student council members are the
official representatives of the student body at
KHS. Students earn memberships through elections
or through a school service program. Student
Council is active on a Daily basis at Kingwood
High School. The Kingwood High school student
Council participates and is recognized at the
local, district and state levels. Some of the
many activities the student council members are
responsible for Dances, Talent Show, Homecoming,
Elections, Toy and Gift Drive, Food Drive and

Theatre Purpose of club The theatre department
at KHS presents a minimum of 2 mainstage shows a
year as well as our UIL One-Act Play competition
piece, and student directed shows. All of these
shows are open to all KHS students regardless of
their enrollment in a theatre class. Students may
choose to audition for a part in the play or work
on various crews necessary to produce to produce
the play. Students may try their hand at set
construction, properties, costuming, lighting,
sound engineering or publicity and marketing. The
theatre department prides itself as an
organization that has a place for everybody. In
addition to the fun work that is done in the
department, we are also a member of the
International Thespian Society. In order to be a
part of the ITS a student must earn 20 thespian
points. Points are earned by involvement in the
theatre department or drama club. Points vary
based on the activity and follow the guidelines
set by the ITS. Once a student earns 60 points
(Honor Thespian Status) they will receive a
letter jacket. In addition, upon graduation these
students will be presented with their honor
chords which they will wear as they walk at
graduation. We look forward to your participation

Yearbook (Hoofprints) Purpose of club The KHS
yearbook staff produces HOOFPRINTS, the annual
for Kingwood High School. Students write, edit,
interview, photograph and produce the layout for
the yearbook. The staff begins work on the
yearbook early in the summer and continues
through the school year. Members must enroll in
