  • They are the only mammals that can fly

What They Look Like
  • They can be orange,yellow,brown,black
  • One type of bat, the ghost bat is gray
  • Usually only a couple of ounces in weight
  • Their wings are made of stretchy elastic skin
  • Insect eating bats have big ears and small eyes
  • Fruit eaters have small ears and larger eyes
  • Their toes have five fingers and tiny thumbs
  • Small, sharp, pointy teeth that are 2-3 mm long

  • They live in caves
  • The temperature of the caves is usually damp,
    moist, and very humid
  • Nooks are another habitat
  • One type of bat called the pyramid bat lives in
    the desserts of Africa

  • They can also live in houses, hollow trees, and
    sheds
